Biography
Douglas Applegate serves as of counsel to The Ledger Law Firm. Mr. Applegate is licensed to practice law in California, Arizona, Texas, Maryland and Virginia.
Mr. Applegate is a seasoned trial lawyer with over twenty-eight years of experience, graduating Arizona State School of Law in 1979 (Magna Cum Laude), after attending the Naval Justice School as an Honors Graduate.
He first practiced with the Attorney Emery Ledger when he served as Lead Counsel in the landmark case, The United States of America vs. Jose Nazario. Since Mr. Nazario’s acquittal after jury verdict in 2008, Mr. Applegate has maintained on ongoing of counsel relationship with the firm handling its complex civil litigation.
Mr. Applegate has worked throughout the United States as a trial attorney handling personal injury, wrongful death, business disputes, real property matters, and medical malpractice. He additionally served as a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserves (retired), in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps following law school serving years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
Mr. Applegate’s memberships and affiliations include, all the United States District Courts of California, United States District Court for the District of Arizona, Ninth Circuit Court, Fourth U.S. Court of Appeals, Certified Judge Advocate Under the U.C.M.J., the United States Court of Military Appeals, and he served as a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps (retired) from 1974 – 2006 (tours of duty including Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom) and Operational Law & Civil Military Operations.
Mr. Applegate currently handles The Ledger Law Firm’s out of state matters.
