As the rain falls in Southern California for the first time in what seems forever, most are hunkered down in their homes & offices staying dry. The state really needs rain to lessen the constant drought conditions but a huge fall like the one we are experiencing today may cause drivers on California freeways serious injury and even death.
Hydroplaning Accidents happen if a driver loses control of their vehicle because a layer of water on the roadway prevents direct contact between the tires and the road surface. The resulting loss of contact and friction causes the car to lose control including braking, steering and power to the wheels. The automobile slides and skids until it collides with something else i.e. another car, or friction between the pavement and wheels is regained. Hydroplaning risks include puddled water or heavy rain, speeding, worn out and/or under-inflated tires.
The worst auto accidents happen during rainy weather conditions. Remember that family is first and taking your time to protect your family during hazardous road conditions is more important than any meeting or deadline. Take it slow and take care! Remember, during the rainy season- slow down!
