Laguna Niguel Car Accidents – Are the Streets Getting Safer or More Dangerous?

Again, in 2007, statistics for Laguna Niguel show that there were four fatal car accidents with a total of five vehicles involved in the accidents. The year 2008 saw an improvement in the number of fatal car accidents – only two people were killed in Laguna Niguel accidents. A total of three vehicles were involved in the fatalities and one was driven by a drunk driver. A third person was injured in the fatal accidents.
Sadly, 2010 hasn’t gotten off to a very good start for the residents and drivers of Laguna Niguel. On the evening of January 9, 2010, Charles Reginald Conwell, 58, was struck and killed as he attempted to cross the street in Laguna Beach. Reports indicate that he was crossing at the 1700 block of Laguna Canyon Road when a woman driving a minivan struck him – ultimately causing his death. He was not, according to reports, crossing at a marked crosswalk. If initial reports of the accident are correct, then the driver of the mini van may not be at fault for the accident – or may bear less responsibility for the accident – because the victim was not crossing at a designated crosswalk.
We all hope that the incidents of fatal car accidents continue to decline for the residents of Laguna Niguel, despite the year starting off as it did.
