We often report on the horrors of negligent driving and the devastation it can lead to. In the following report, we detail the events of a young teen who experienced more than his share of tragedy, injury and eventually death in his young life. May this man’s story serve as a reminder to all in the Southern California area to always drive alert and attentive and to never allow distractions to compromise the health and safety of all other drivers around.
A young teenage boy was tragically paralyzed just one year ago when he was injured in a diving accident in Lake Tahoe. Hailing from Petaluma, California, the vibrant track star received support- both emotional and financial- from the entire Petaluma community following his accident and was able to recover and participate in rehabilitative services. The child remained paralyzed from the chest down but was soon able to continue driving with a custom-made vehicle provided to him through donations and benefits.
In an unspeakable and horrific turn of events, the 19-year old was killed Sunday evening in a subsequent motor vehicle accident that took his life instantly at the scene of the collision. The accident took place on Highway 101 South in Marin County. The Sheriff’s Office identified the victim Monday as the same young man paralyzed last year- much to the shock and bereavement of all who loved and supported him.
The driver was operating a Dodge Magnum in the southbound lanes when he drifted inexplicably off the roadway and struck a tree. CHP reported that there were no tire friction marks meaning the driver did not attempt to stop before the collision. Debris was found nearly 300 from the scene of the accident. Jaws of life were required to remove the victim from the driver’s seat.
