Tragic Home Fire Causes Major Damage
Home fires are emotionally and financially devastating. Fires often start as a small spark which leads to an accidental ignition of all or part of a room. From there, it isn’t long until an entire home is engulfed in flames. In 2009 alone, a reported 356,200 residential fires took place across the nation. 2,480 people were killed in these fires and over 12,000 people were injured as a result of the home fires. In addition to the widespread injury and death caused by tragic home fires, $7.25 billion in property damage was caused by residential fires.
On Sunday evening, a two-alarm fire engulfed an Anaheim-area home requiring the assistance of over 40 firefighters to contain the blaze. In this residential fire alone, investigators estimate close to $300,000 worth of property was lost. The emergency was called in around 1pm said Anaheim Fire Chief Mark John.
According to reports, the devastating fire started in an addition attached to the rear of the structure and continued throughout the house. The one-story residence was nearly completely destroyed in the blaze. The cause of the fire is still unknown and fire investigators are working around the clock to gather clues.
As is common in residential fires, the neighboring homes on either side of the structures were burned as well, although only minor damage was reported.
Most importantly, no one was injured in the fire and it is unclear whether occupants of the home were present when the fire started.
